DIRECTORATES, CIRCLES, AIRPORTS
  • The directorates, the circles and the airports are the real workstations of CAAB.
  • Members have Directorates under them headed by respective Director.
  • Chief Engineer has three Circles headed by respective Superintendent Engineers.
  • Each airport is managed by respective Airport Manager and is responsible to Member (Operation and Planning).
 
DIRECTORATES and FIELD UNITS UNDER MEMBER (OPERATIONS & PLANNING)

1. Flight Safety and Regulation

This Directorate performs all necessary activities to ensure maximum safety to aircrafts, passengers and crew through appropriate testing and licensing, and all activities related to air transport authorization, aeronautical billing, regulations and air services agreements.

2. Air Traffic Services and Aerodromes

This Directorate performs all duties related to air traffic services, aerodromes, aeronautical publications and airport security.

3. Communication

This Directorate has two branches. The Communication Engineering branch deals with the engineering activities related to electronic equipment and systems for telecommunication, radio navigation, surveillance, security and passenger services along with management of stores. The Communication Operation branch performs aeronautical telecommunication services like AFTN operation, aeronautical advisory service, NOTAM etc.

4. Planning and Training

Tasks of this Directorate is related to national aviation plans, annual development programs and co-ordination with other national and international organizations in relation to planning and development. It also performs all activities regarding plan, program and implementation of national and foreign training of CAAB personnel.

1. Central Engineering Maintenance and Store Unit (CEMSU)

This unit is managed by a Director and is assigned with responsibilities of procurement, installation and maintenance of all communication and electro-mechanical equipment and systems, commissioning and calibration of all operating navigation aids, as well as procuring, storing and supplying of equipment and spares.

2. Civil Aviation Training Center (CATC)

This unit is headed by a director designated as Principal, and is responsible for conducting various regular and special training programs for ATS, Communication Operation, Communication Engineering, Security and Fire personnel.

3. Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA)

Management and operations of the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, Dhaka is controlled and supervised under the Director (HSIA). In contrast to other airports, this airport is a Directorate and the Director (HSIA) is directly responsible to the Member (Operation and Planning).

4. Other Airports

Management and operations of each airport except HSIA is controlled and supervised by the respective Airport Manager. All Airport Managers are responsible to the Member (Operation and Planning).
